A guide to buying a LED projector from ebay or Amazon

When buying a LED projector you have to decide what features you need. Many projectors come with extra features such as a USB port for built-in playback, TV-tuner and etc. Be sure that you need all of those features or try to find a projector that doesn't have them.

Chinese made LED projectors are a dime a dozen on eBay. These projectors are most often much cheaper than brand name projectors but can sometimes pack quite a punch despite the low price tag. If you want to buy one of these projectors be sure to look at the product description thoroughly.

The main specs to keep in mind when picking a projector are:
  • Lumens
  • Contrast ratio
  • Native resolution
These are the most important things to look at when buying a chinese LED projector from eBay. The Lumens of the projector is the amount of brightness that it emits. If you want to be able to watch the projector without having to black out all lights from the room, the Lumens value must be at least over 1500. I will write an article about the difference in Lumens soon.

The contrast ratio is also important. The higher the contrast of the projector, the clearer the image is. Many chinese LED projectors have a very low contrast ratio, so be sure to check that out before buying.

Finally, the resolution of the projector is a very important aspect to look at. Many sellers on eBay proclaim to be selling "HD projectors" when in reality they aren't truly HD. While the projectors support 1080 or 720p resolutions, most of the time they downscale the signal to match the projector's native resolution. So if the seller claims that he is selling a HD projector, look for the native resolution or send the seller a message asking for it.

Another important thing to keep in mind is zoom capability. While they have manual focus, most of these projectors lack the ability to zoom the image in/out manually. Because of this, the screen size is completely dependent on where you place the projector. So if you want more control over the image size, a ceiling mount might be a good option.

All in all, these cheap projectors can be a really good choice if you keep in mind the factors I pointed out in the article. They can be great for setting up a cheap movie watching experience or for kids' rooms, without breaking the bank.

I hope this article helps you decide on a good cheap projector and if you have any questions feel free to comment.
